The AKC hunt test with Junior, Senior and Master stakes will be Sunday June 5th. Field Banquet will be Sunday after the hunt test. Monday June 6th will be the WC/WCX.

Agility

Dogs and handlers run at The Plex South on Tuesday, June 7. This is 10 miles from the Coliseum. This indoor and air-conditioned soccer arena on artificial grass is used frequently during the year for agility trials and boasts lots of crating space. Standard, JWW, T2B will be offered. Judge is Amanda Moller.

Conformation

All Conformation will be held in the Coliseum. In addition to the normal conformation events we are offering a 4-6 month puppy class which will precede BOB judging. See the schedule for when these classes will be offered.

Obedience and Rally

We are looking forward to watching the dogs perform as we know they can, although antics are bound to happen, given the “Peter Pan” nature of our dogs! There will be three obedience judges and one rally judge. We will try to get all obedience/rally done on Wednesday June 8th but may need to trickle into Thursday depending on the entry. Obedience/Rally will be inside in the same building as the conformation and grooming set up. We’ll offer beautiful rosettes and prizes to the qualifiers!

 Regular obedience classes:
Novice A&B, Open A&B, Utility A&B. All preferred classes offered

Non- regular classes:
Veterans
Team (4 dogs & 4 handlers)

Optional titling classes:
Beginner Novice A&B
Graduate Novice, Graduate Open
Versatility

Rally Classes:
Novice A&B, Intermediate, Advanced, Excellent and Master

Please think about helping out as a ring steward. The more help we have the better. It will make it go much smoother and we’ll get done earlier so we can all play!

3 Rivers Award

A beautiful rosette will be awarded to dogs that place, qualify or JAM in any three of the five areas of competition offered at the 2022 Specialty 1) Field, 2) Agility, 3) Obedience, 4) Rally 5) Sweeps/Conformation. Rosettes will be presented at the Awards Banquet. Unclaimed rosettes WILL be mailed. Pre-registration is required. Registration will be in a later info packet.

Note: Earning an "I Made the Cut" award during Best of Breed judging qualifies as part of the conformation category.

Crating and Grooming

All crating and grooming will be at the Coliseum. There will be both paid and free grooming spaces. Each paid grooming space will be 10 x 10 and will have access to electricity. No X-pens in the building please.

Hoses for bathing along with several booster baths will be available indoors in the loading dock area of the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Hot and cold water are available. Provide your own towels and shampoo.

Education

Gayle Watkins, PhD, head of Education for/Good Dog will present a seminar on Transformational Puppy Rearing and Socialization on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Holiday Inn Purdue Ft Wayne (host hotel)

Gayle's presentation will introduce participants to the why, what and how of a scientifically based, ground-breaking puppy-rearing system that enables us to bring out the best in every puppy. It will focus on early puppy development including epigenetics, socialization, and unique aspects of canine development that we can use to best develop our pups.

The seminar has something to offer any serious dog person but will have particular appeal to dog breeders and competitors.

Gayle has worked with dog breeders around the world to design breeding programs that produce healthy, stable, long-lived dogs of all types. She has bred golden retrievers for over 40 years, is a Gold Breeder of Merit, and is one of the few dog breeders to have been selected by the American Kennel Club as sport “Breeder of the Year” four times, all for different sports.

Gayle’s professional life included 22 years of service as a US Army officer (retiring as a Colonel), teaching, speaking and publishing, and conducting research for the Department of the Army as well as many corporate and non-profit organizations. Her education includes biology, business and sociology degrees from Harvard, Stanford and Gettysburg College.

Gayle has bred and/or shown over 150 American and Canadian Conformation, Tracking, Obedience and Agility champions, plus Qualified-All Age and Master Hunter golden retrievers. These dogs include the only two-time golden retriever AKC National Agility Champion, the AKC Rally National Champion, and the youngest Champion Tracker golden.

Health Clinics and Genetic Diversity

We will be offering OFA CAER/Gonioscopy screenings, Echocardiograms and Auscultation screenings as well as a DNA Blood Draw.

Eye, Cardio and DNA Blood Draw Clinics - Thursday, June 9, 2021 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum

Genetic Diversity Testing- In conjunction with BetterBred and UC Davis VGL, we will again be offering Genetic Diversity Testing on Friday, June 10 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

*All health screenings and DNA Blood Draw will be dependent on getting enough volunteers to manage each clinic. FCRSA members are encouraged to volunteer for even an hour or two. Please consider volunteering to hold dogs, help with paperwork, or draw blood.*
